Frank Rutherford
Frank Rutherford is a native Bahamian who attended college, University of Houston, on a track and field scholarship. Once here in the United States, Frank established himself as a world class athlete, winning 3 NCAA Championships in the triple jump. Frank is the first Bahamian to win medals at the World Championships and the Olympics. Frank is the first Bahamian to win an Olympic medal by winning the bronze medal in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Spain. He became and continues to be a hero in the Bahamas. With his life experiences, Frank knows the challenges involved with being a student in a foreign country and he knows what it takes to succeed. Frank sees the young people in the Bahamas and his passion is to give as many young people as he can the opportunity to obtain a higher education. He has donated his home, time, and resources into helping the youth of the Bahamas achieve this goal. Frank graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. Economics.
